The Jamaica Institute of Environmental Professionals will be having a Public Forum to discuss the following critical topic:

The JIEP would like to thank those who came out and supported this event which was centred around a very important and current topic.  Mrs. Eleanor Jones, Managing Director of Environmental Solutions Ltd., Dr. Peter E.T. Edwards, Marine Scientist and Environmental Economist, and a representative from Smith Warner International discussed the environmental decision-making tools relevant to the next steps in a best-practice design for the Logistics Hub, currently being discussed for the Portland Bight protected area.

The discussion looked at the general process for an environmental permit and specifically what was (i) needed and (ii) recommended for the Logistics Hub process, including the pros and cons of  Environmental Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments and Natural Resource Valuations.

The forum was held on Thursday December 12 at 6:00pm at the Medallion Hall Hotel (53 Hope Road).
